Orc Beverages: Yogg
Orcs seldom have had the time and space to brew alcoholic beverages like ale or distill harder alcohol. They do make single vessel beverages that just need yeast like wine or mead with honey easier to gather than finding grapes when on the move. The most common, and most cultural thing they drink is fermented milk which they call yogg.
Yogg is thick and has a sour taste. It may be drank cool (room temperature) or hot - especially on cold nights. Only dwarves are know to be able to stomach it, but they do not enjoy it. It is fermented with cultures that are passed down among generations of orc storms and is called ‘the father’, and may even given a proper name. The milk is usually from a wild animal or even a monster, though orcs have recently been settling and may purchase milk from a farm, they still have a distaste for domesticating animals themselves. It provides sustenance to orcs on the move, since it is preserved for at least a short while they can carry it with them and drink it when they aren’t able to hunt or gather food.
Egg Yogg
The orcs that have settled the island of Ijis have access to a never ending supply of seabird eggs from the flocks that nest on the cliffs of the island. They have become fond of adding an egg into their yogg to further fortify it, especially useful for those that sail the Maessus Ocean. Orc ships carry barrels and barrels of egg yogg. In their trading they have access to spices from across all of Taluma and are fond of adding warming spices to their egg yogg to make it even more fulfilling in the cold winds and spray of the Maessus waves.
Once per day, an orc who partakes of spiced egg yogg can remove one level of Exhaustion and regain 1 hit die of hit points.
